Mathematics As and A Level

A Level Mathematics develops a set of transferable skills. These include the skill of working with mathematical information, as well as the ability to think logically and independently, consider accuracy, model situations mathematically, analyse results and reflect on findings. 

Learners can apply these skills across a wide range of subjects and these skills equip them well for progression to higher education or directly into employment. 

At AS level, teachers can choose from three different routes to Cambridge International AS Level Mathematics: Pure Mathematics, Pure Mathematics and Mechanics, or Pure Mathematics and Probability & Statistics. 

At A Level, teachers can also choose from different routes to Cambridge International A Level Mathematics depending on the choice of applied mathematics (Mechanics and/or Probability and Statistics).

Biology As and A Level

The emphasis throughout is on the understanding of concepts and the application of biology ideas in novel contexts as well as on the acquisition of knowledge. The course encourages creative thinking and problem-solving skills which are transferable to any future career path. Cambridge International AS and A Level Biology is ideal for learners who want to study biology or a wide variety of related subjects at university or to follow a career in science.

Physics As and A Level

AS and A Level Physics builds on the skills acquired at Cambridge IGCSE (or equivalent) level. The syllabus includes the main theoretical concepts which are fundamental to the subject, a section on some current applications of physics, and a strong emphasis on advanced practical skills. Practical skills are assessed in a timetabled practical examination. 

The emphasis throughout is on the understanding of concepts and the application of physics ideas in novel contexts as well as on the acquisition of knowledge. The course encourages creative thinking and problem-solving skills which are transferable to any future career path. Cambridge International AS and A Level Physics is ideal for learners who want to study physics or a wide variety of related subjects at university or to follow a career in science.

Chemistry As and A Level

International AS and A Level Chemistry builds on the skills acquired at Cambridge IGCSE (or equivalent) level. The syllabus includes the main theoretical concepts which are fundamental to the subject, a section on some current applications of chemistry, and a strong emphasis on advanced practical skills. Practical skills are assessed in a timetabled practical examination.

English (Main Course and Skills)

FBS English course at this level provides learners with the opportunity to study English language and its use in communication. Learners will be encouraged to respond critically to a wide variety of texts in a range of forms, styles and contexts, and to promote skills of communication, reading, research and analysis.

Through their studies, learners will develop an ability to read and analyse material, gaining further knowledge and understanding of English language features and issues. Learners will also develop the skills of writing clearly, accurately, creatively and effectively for different purposes and audiences.

Global Perspective

Meeting government ministers, organizing a local river clean-up project and writing to the United Nations about climate change, are just some of the activities learners are pursuing through the Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives course. This is a groundbreaking and stimulating course that stretches across traditional subject boundaries and develops transferable skills. It is both cross-curricular and skills-based and taps into the way learners of today enjoy learning, including teamwork, presentations, projects, and working with other learners around the world. The emphasis is on developing the ability to think critically about a range of global issues where there is always more than one point of view.

PPKn (Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan)

PPKn studies helps to enable students to deepen their knowledge of democracy and government, the law, rights and responsibilities and how we live together in society. Specifications should enable students to think critically, evaluate evidence, debate ideas, make persuasive arguments and justify their conclusions. Specifications should enable students to acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills to take responsible citizenship actions, play a positive role in public and democratic life as informed

Pendidikan Agama dan Budi Pekerti

Studying religion in FBS helps students to develop spiritually and morally, take pride in being Muslims, and achieve balanced personalities that reflect the implementation of Islam. Finally, the content of this series is presented in a spiral approach, whereby students revisit each area of study and examine it in greater depth each year.

Bahasa Indonesia

Students in this course will develop skills in reading, writing and speaking Bahasa Indonesia for practical communication in everyday situations. They gain an understanding of a wide range of social register and styles, and learn to communicate appropriately in Bahasa Indonesia. They also learn to understand the use of language and implicit and explicit meaning in modern literature.

Physical Education

Studying sport in FBS is designed to encourage enjoyment in physical activity by providing learners with an opportunity to take part in a range of physical activities and develop an understanding of effective and safe physical performance. This helps learners to develop an appreciation of the necessity for a sound understanding of the principles, practices and training that underpin improved performance, better health and well-being

Art and Music

The main objective of this course is to encourage a personal response by stimulating imagination, sensitivity, conceptual thinking, powers of observation and analytical ability. Learners gain confidence and enthusiasm as they develop technical skills in two and three dimensional form and composition, and are able to identify and solve problems in visual and tactile forms. They also learn how to develop ideas from initial attempts to final solutions.

TAQ (Tahsin & Tahfiz Al Quran)

In our efforts to connect Fatih Bilingual School students with their faith, it is paramount to engender within them an understanding of the Qur’an that allows them to connect with it and embody its teachings. Furthermore, any healthy Muslim community has at its core an element that has memorized the Qur’an. We are proud to announce the launch of TAQ (Qur’an memorization) program this semester. The program will help the students of Fatih Bilingual School to memorize portions of the Qur’an, or the entirety of it, through a curriculum that is customized to their individual ability.
