Location
Fatih Bilingual School’s campus rests on the city center of Banda Aceh. Banda Aceh is the capital and the largest city in Aceh Province. The city covers an area of 64 square kilometres and it is located on the northwestern tip of Indonesia.
In the past, the city was served as a capital and hub for the Sultanate of Aceh upon its foundation in the late 15th century. The city changed its name several times from Bandar Aceh Darussalam Kandang to Bandar Aceh Darussalam and lastly known as Banda Aceh. Apart from that, the city also gained its prominence by becoming “the port to Mecca” or the “porch of Mecca” in regard to the days when hajj pilgrims travelled by sea from Indonesia would make a stop over in the city on the way to Mecca.
Banda Aceh is widely known as one of the most cultural and historical-rich cities in Indonesia. In spite of the devastating tsunami that hit in 2004, Banda Aceh has been astonishingly recovered and has so much to offer to any visitor, from remarkable culture to memorable culinary experience.
