History

Dating back to 2004, one of the deadliest natural disasters, Tsunami, struck Aceh region along with other neighboring countries. There were estimated to be 500.000 people lost their lives. More than half of the victims were Acehnese. Almost all families lost their homes and students lost their schools.  This “Porch of Mecca” suddenly turned to be unrecognized with debris covering all parts of the city. The disaster invited sympathy from all over the world.

Fatih Indonesia Foundation, in collaboration with altruistic people from different background who came up with humanitarian mission, decided to tirelessly contribute in rebuilding the city by building a school. With a noble mission of humanity, they established Fatih Bilingual School in 2005.

Inauguration of the new building was attended by highly ranked officials of Republic of Indonesia in 2006. Among them are Prof. Dr. Bambang Sudibyo – Minister of Education and Culture (MOEC) of Indonesia, and Prof. Dr. Din Syamsuddin – Head of PP Muhammadiyah.

Within short period of time, the school has become a pride of Aceh region with outstanding achievements in national and international competitions. The reliability and the reputation of the school earned another trust by Teuku Nyak Arif Foundation to build another school. The second school, a girls’ school in Banda Aceh named Teuku Nyak Arif Fatih Bilingual School, was established. These schools have now been ones of the most prominent schools in the region and have welcomed guests from all over the world.
